You will need QuickTime most likely for .mov files, you can download only quicktime instead iTunes (that also comes with Quicktime),

Under NO circumstances install EITHER iTunes OR Quicktime in Vista UNTIL Apple releases Vista-compatible versions.

If you do, you will have NON-working .mp4 or .mov files or ANY protected AAC files, or for that matter ANY protected files.

PLEASE take my advice, and WAIT until Apple releases Vista versions.

FWIW... I avoided both until I read messages from many people saying there was no problem in most cases. I have iTunes and Quicktime installed on Vista Home Premium. Everything works the way it is supposed to, my iPod shuffle works and updates fine, that annoying QT works fine, no corruption of any files. In some cases, there will be problems. In the vast majority of cases, it works fine.
