Documents and Sttings/ Users
Ok..when I first booted up the computer XP apparently created a folder with my real name on it under Documents and Settings in the 'explore" window...when I downloaded some music files as a test I found the pathname to the files included my real name...when i tried to change the folder name from my name to something else it wouldn't let me do it..somehow the admintrator and my user name became one and the same...after 2 hours on the phone with Dell tech support and being tranfered ever upward in tech expertise(?) they could't solve my problem..I finally was able to elminate my name from the folder by creating another user name as an administrator and deleting all the files in the folder with my name on it...however when I logged on again in  safe mode as the administrator, not as the new name I had created, the option did not exist to delete that new user..no matter how how many user names I have created and deleted always one has to be kept...I can't just have the one administrator user with no name...when I boot up it in normal mode it doesn't ask me to chose between logging on as an administrator or the user name i created (if there is just one name and the administrator), it just boots up normally...oh well...at least anything I copy or save to the user name folder no longer has my real name attached to the pathname...however, one problem remains...no matter what I do...a second folder with my user name shows up further down the tree list in the explore window...it is not part of the Documents and settings folder but is its own folder further down the list ..anything I add under the user name I created goes to both folders...it is an exact  mirror of the named folder under documents and settings and I cannot delete it..doesn't even give you the choice when I right click on it...should I just make it a hidden file when I go to file properties, leave it alone and live with it, or any other suggestions?....is there any way of resetting XP to the point where I opened the box and first turned the computer on ? (I have not transfered any files from my other Dell or installed any software yet except for zone alarm so I have nothing to lose yet)...or is my only solution (other than living with it) to grab all the installation disks and reinstall everything?...sorry for the long post...thanks for your help...Vin
