Does E6400 Latitude Support Windows XP?
Hi,
I just got a Dell E6400 Latitude in my office. It has 4 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD and NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M. OS is Windows Vista Business. The problem that i'm having is that we have some customized applications bought from certain vendors whose softwares are not supported on Windows Vista. I have checked from the vendors and no specific patch is available for Windows Vista. Even if i ask them to prepare one, they will charge us a hell lot of money.
So definitely my next move was to downgrade and get Windows XP Professional Installed on the machine. But the IT guy told me that windows Xp cannot be installed on this machine as Drivers of certain applications are not available.
So my questions are
1) Can we downgrade to WindowsXP for this specific model?
2) Are all the drivers available? If yes where can i get them?
3) if some of the drivers are not available, which application won't work on windows XP?
I tried searching the website but i couldn't find a proper solution. It is a very critical issue for us. Even if the basic things work on windows XP and some optional features get disabled, i still would like to use Windows XP.
Hoping that some of you might have a solution for this
Thanks and Regards,
Asif Hafeez

Hi Asif.Hafeez, Yes you can downgrade your system to XP, and you can get all your drivers HERE. Use the drop down link where it says Operating System, also if your lappy has an SATA hard drive, then you will need this driver HERE on an floppy disc, or use nLite HERE to slipstream it onto an disc. But, if you can get an hold of XP with SP3 on it, then you wont need that driver. Some later disc's with SP2 on them will get you through the install with that driver.

When you install drivers in XP, be sure to follow the correct order, or problems will result
