Downgrading OS / Multiple OS ?

Question

Hey folks, My questions: 1. Is it true Dell doesn't support OS-Downgrading ?2. Does Dell support multiple OS's running ? My Inspiron 1100 came with WinXP pre-installed. I stumbled upon this problem when i tried to Install Win98 on a new (fat32, yes) partition. Does anyone know how i can solve this problem!?!?? Because i really wanna run Win98 on my laptop too! YOu would have to install the WIN98 OS first (to a clean hard drive) and then install XP as the 2nd OS in a dual boot system.

As far as i know, the harddisk is as clean as it can be.

Only one FAT32-partition left and some unallocated space where XP was (and there's a little first FAT-partition called "Dell-utility")

It won't boot from the Win98-cd, but it does boot from the WinXP(home)-cd that came with it (it also boots from another XP-pro-cd).

Have you set BIOS to boot from CD or are you using Boot Menu by pressing F12 during start & selecting CD. ?
If not using Boot Menu try it.

Also did you purchase 1100 with a Floppy Drive so you can try 98 boot Floppy.

Yes you will need  a WIN98 Startup Disk to boot form and can be had from www.bootdisk.com if you do not have one.  Install 98 and then go back and install XP by allowing the  CD drive to be the first boot option in your BIOS settings.
