Downloaded wrong Firmware & Restore function

My system has come with the following Drives:
HL D T ST DVD +/-RW GSA-H31N
                         &
HL DT ST DVD ROM GDR H10N

Now, I had flash the following firmware intended for HL D S GSA H31N [+/-RW]
I did create a restore point just prior to doing that Flash.

I learnt from a thread that a wrong Flash can damage the hardware.

Now, can anyone tell me if I use the restore point that created just prior to the download, will my system revert back to previous level, so that my hardware does not get damaged.

Thanking you for your help.

System restor is used for restoring system files to a previous state.  I do not believe it can revert firmware.  You can always try though.

If it doesn't work, you may be able to completely uninstall the drive and then reinstall it.

Snowshine,

The HL DT ST DVD +/-RW GSA-H31N and HLDS GSA H31N is the same drive.
If you used the Dell firmware, then you didn`t use the wrong one.

Sincerely,
Fox

The only way to recover from a bad firware update is another firmware update with the correct version. I would expect you will have to buy a new drive in the end.
