Just to be sure as jm stated, you have Windows Aero as your theme?
Are you right clicking on desktop, then clicking personalize, then selecting DREAMSCENE as the folder, then selecting a photo under the dreamscene folder?
If you are not, then you have to do it this way, and there are several optional updates you can install with Dreamscene content in them.
Also, ours was working perfectly fine until I installed a video convertor program. The codeces that were installed by this convertor program caused my Dreamscene stop working. Once I uninstalled the program Dreamscene started working again. So you might check for programs like those.
yes, i have AREO enabled as my theme. Yes i am going into Dreamscene as the folder and there are 10 themes to choose from, no matter which one i choose, nothing happens on the desktop. As for the video converter program, unless it's a windows update, i would not have installed it. As far as i remember i was never prompted for installing any kind of an update for converters. Is there a windows update number associated to the converter? If so, i can just go into add remove and uninstall this. I really do appreciate your attention to my request...waiting for your responce, both of you...thank you so much.
Unfortunately it is not a Windows UPdate for the video convertor. This was a free program I downloaded from a website. If you have not installed any programs then that probably is not it.
So it sounds like something more is afoot here.
One last thing I can think off. Open CONTROL PANEL then click PROGRAMS AND FEATURES on the left click TURN OFF ON WINDOWS FEATURES scroll down to WINDOWS ULTIMATE EXTRAS and make sure the box for DREAMSCENE PREVIEW is checked. Close out and see what happens. If it is checked maybe uncheck it, close out the program, then go back to Control Panel, do the same steps but this time check it. Maybe it will reset something.
EDIT: Everything I have been reading regarding this indicates that it is probably a codec problem, either a previously installed program is trying to decode the dreamscene and can't, thus the errors, or the codec isn't installed or maybe corrupt. It states if you can install an MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 decoder this should allow Dreamscene to work properly.
I myself get confused by all the codecs and decoder things, but if I were having this problem I would search for something to install and try it figuring I couldn't mess it up as it's not working anyway.
If I get anything further I will advise. Good luck.
