Drive issues
Hi folks, bear with me please as I'm a novice user. In "my pc" I can see a drive named "winretools (F) but when I open it it's empty, what is this and do I need it??? I think it's a recovery drive but have previously made recovery discs so is it needed???

Hi Bluesboyo,
The winretools drive is the recovery partition on the system. I would suggest you not to delete the recovery partition if the recovery discs are damaged or not available you will not be able to restore the system to factory state.

Thanks for the quick reply Ravi, the thing is this drive is actually empty. I have recovery discs and have used them before so they are fine, I also have my personal data i.e. pics/music etc backed up to an external HD.

Hi Bluesboyo,
The files on the recovery partition are hidden and you will not be able to see it. If you have already restored the computer once using the recovery discs and its in safe place you can delete the recovery partition.

Thanks again Ravi, "my PC" shows that there is 456mb free of 489mb in Winretools and when I click it to open it I'm told the folder is empty. I'll take a chance aand delete it so. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Bluesboyo,
The files are hidden on the recovery partition that is the reason you will find the partition empty. Please reply us If you face any concerns recovering the system to factory state.
