taximom,

If Windows XP is installed on your "G" drive there is no way to change the name other than to reinstall Windows. You should be given the opportunity prior to downloading a file to change the file's destination to a folder on your hard drive.

When You re-install be sure no other drives are connected (floppy and cdrom not included), except the one you desire to be the C drive. This includes removeable drives.

The floppy, CD ROM and the hard drive connected during re-install should be fine. The computer will recognize the floppy as the A: drive, the CD ROM as the D: drive and the hard drive as the C: drive.

If you have more than one partition on the hard drive, it may push the CD ROM down a letter (or more), but that should be fine. Make sure you delete the partition with the windows install (G) before re-installing the OS. Format the drive/partition and it should assign the C: letter to it, then choose that as the isntall drive.

Chances are you already had an OS install when you installed Windows the last time, so it left the original install drive and set it up for a dual boot system.
