Bernie063,

Would help to know Kodak camera and Lexar multi-card reader model numbers.  Also, what software was installed; i.e., Arcsoft or similar photo software.  Version of Windows XP?  If you look at properties of driver in Device Manager, why does it say the device is not fully enabled?  Which devices are not fully enabled?

Click on Start|Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Event Viewer.  Click on Application and System.  Are there any events with Red Circle or Yellow Triangles.  If so, right click on those events.  Left click on Properties.  What does it say caused the Application or System event errors?

Kodak CX 7300 and Kodak C300.  Laxar USB 2.0 Multi Card Reader model: RW 022 Rev A.  Running Windows XP SP2.  Easyshare software that came with cameras.  Device Manager shows yellow !.  Also yellow ! for Laxar driver.

Bernie063,
Windows XP requires no drivers be loaded for the Lexar Multi-Card Reader for Windows XP.  This is per Lexar driver download site:  http://www.lexar.com/drivers/index.html#usb2.0 .   Updated Kodak driver (EasyShare software) is available here:  http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=10/3905/3906&pq-locale=en_US  If you're on a dialup connection, skip this as it will take way too long to download. Use the CD you have to uninstall/reinstall EasyShare.

Unplug the Lexar Multi-card Reader and the Kodak camera(s).   Click on Start|Control Panel| Add/Remove Programs.  Uninstall any Lexar and Kodak camera driver software if present.  WARNING: If you uninstall Kodak EasyShare software, DO NOT uninstall any shared drivers in the Windows\System32 folder.

Right-click on My Computer.  Left-click on Properties.  Click on Hardware tab. Click on Device Manager button.  Right-click on Lexar USB Multi-Card driver.  Left-click on Uninstall. Do the same for the Kodak camera(s).

Right-click on Start.  Left-click on Explore.  Navigate to C:\Windows\Inf folder (You need to have folder options set to display hidden files and folders to see the INF folder).  Scroll down and look for oemxx.inf files.  Starting with the highest numbered file, right-click on the oemxx.inf file.  Left-click on Open.  If the text in the oemxx.inf file indicates the file is a driver for the Lexar Multi-card reader or Kodak camera(s), then delete the file.

Leave card reader and cameras unplugged.  Restart computer.  Insert Windows XP CD in CD-ROM drive.   Click Start|Run.  Type sfc /scannow.  This will make sure that all your Windows system files are the correct version.  This can take a while.  Be patient.  When complete, restart computer.   Plug in Lexar card reader.  XP should automatically detect and install the correct driver.  If a problem with the driver is reported, let us know.  If not, check Device Manager and confirm that there are no problems with the driver.

Now, if you have uninstalled/reinstalled EasyShare, plug in one of the cameras.  Once again, XP should automatically detect the camera as a USB storage device and install the correct driver.  Let us know if any problems are reported.  Check Device Manager and confirm that there are no problems.

Let us know whatever success or failure occurs.
