Driver problems

hi ,

my sound and audio device is not working properly..whenever i turnon there is a window alert which pops out and i even installed the service pack 2.finally when i tried to figure it out i found the following info

Always, always include the model PC and version of Windows in your posts. :(

Follow this link and download the chipset driver for your system to the desktop. Reboot in Safe Mode (F8 before XP starts to load). Double-click on chipset file on desktop to install it. Reboot normally.

Hi thank u....my system model is INSPIRON E1505 with Windows Xp OS ....i tried ur solution  but still whenever my syatem restarts the sound and audio device propery window pops up saying 'No audio devices'..then i clicked volume control and it gives an message box showing 'There are no active mixer devices available . To install mixer devices go to control panel, click printer and other h/w, then click add h/w'...Kindly help me...

If this just started, maybe the simplest fix is System Restore. Personal files won't be affected, but any XP updates originally installed after the date used for the restore have to be reinstalled.

Click start>help&support
Click "Undo changes..."
Follow prompts and pick latest available date when you know it was ok. If that fixes it, make sure firewall and antiviral software are runnning and go directly to MS update site and allow it to scan your system for needed updates.

Hi...This problem exists from a very long time....I installed the service pack2 on july 2nd and i knew that it doesnt contain drivers but still i installed the service pack 2 and i dont have a restore option before that date...What should i do??
