Wow, man! You took your time, didn't you? Thank you so much for such a detailed explanation!

Latitude's driver didn't work, but I'll try to go with the installation order!

Thanks a million!!!

You are using an Operating System that is reaching End of Life.

Hardware vendors such as Intel, ATI, Conexant, Broadcom, NVidia are dropping support for Windows XP pretty quickly. Dell merely rebundle the drivers so will not have a driver if the hardware vendor never made one.

I assume virtualisation doesn't work as you need to connect some hardware to the car. As mentioned I have got this to work on Windows 7 32 Bit with several scientific instruments which had the problem that under virtualisation they couldn't connect to the scientific instrument.

I disabled UAC and set power options to maximum performance; I installed the software from the CD in compatibility mode. I then went to the program files folder where the software for that instrument was installed. I done a search in the folder for .exe and right clicked each .exe file and told it to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP. Several instruments have worked flawlessly after this procedure, I could even get some to work better than the support engineers for the instrument.

Moreover the XPS Studio 1645 was sold at the same time as several Latitude variants that Dell still pushed for XP support for business customers. You should have purchased a business system as you are using it for a business purpose and hence needed additional support.

Anyway if you "must install XP" you might get lucky by taking the XP Audio driver from the Latitude E5400 which should have the same audio hardware:

http://downloads-us.dell.com/FOLDER99587M/2/R267815.exe

The other hardware ID is related to the video driver.

You should also note that Windows XP is very particular about driver installation order on Dell systems.

Ensure that Dell System Software is installed immediately after a clean install of Windows XP with Service Pack 3. I would then attempt installation of the following in order:

Dell System Software: http://downloads-us.dell.com/utility/Dell_System-Software_A06_R288017.exe

Intel Chipset Installation Utility: http://ftp.dell.com/chipset/R228043.exe and update:

Did you try Win 7 Driver in Compatibility mode (Win 7 SP2). Am unable to find 8.1 drivers for your 365. Pl give some more time to search.

Rockstars: any help on this?

It seems there was a problem with the order and forgot to ship the wireless card with the system. Instead they sent the 5630 wireless cards later on which was the fitted by us. It is being located in device manager however we are unable to locate the correct driver. When we download the driver you suggested it gives us a compatibility error message.

Hi,

I am looking for a working driver version for Vostro 3350 touchpad for windows 8 or ideally 8.1. I have all other drivers working just the dell website not only give an Alps Touchpad driver while according to hardware specs the touchpad is Synaptics but the actual file is a dud. It extract to just 1 .txt file and no drivers at all.

Hardware ID

These are unofficial driver sets for your system with Win 8.

Sorry mate but that one is not doing the trick. This is the same driver as the one that got sent to me by dell support. Unfortunately it does not install. Also as I have pointed out in the previous post the touchpad is Synaptics and the driver here is Alps.....

I have compared both models as we also use 3550's and accross all version of win7 and 8 the driver for the touchpad was always different. Alps for 3550 Synaptics for 3350. I found some Synaptics drivers to 8.1 but compatibility does not list Vostro.

No normally at home I would just install that one and it would probably work but when you are making 8.1 deployment build for 1500odd laptops I would just have something that has at least some kind of compatibility.....

Why not try the direct site to synaptics

Try to install the Windows 8 driver. I am still searching for a better driver in Dell site. Thanks for your patience.

The driver version is Synaptics 17.0.11.1 and it is fully functional on Windows 8.1 running on Vostro 3350 Laptop.

Below is the link to the driver that I have downloaded from dell website.

 http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/inspiron-15r-5537?driverId=X8HNX

You may close the case and please pass relevant information to Vostro 3350 drivers downloads page could be updated.

In regards to Windows 8 the following version of the driver is correct and working.
