drivers for Win XP

Hi,

I have couple of dumb questions.  I just purchased a Dell Vostro 200 in XP Home last month.  I am going to upgrade to XP Pro.  My questions are:

1.  Do you prefer to do a clean installation of XP Pro or just install XP Pro on top of XP Home?
2.  If you do a clean installation, are the drivers for XP Pro same as XP Home which can be found on the resource disk(s)?

Thanks for your time.

A clean install is usually the best, but there are so little differences between Home and Pro, you could go either way.  Drivers are the same. . . What are you needing in Pro that you do not have with Home?

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the quick respond.  I am installing XP Pro on the computer just for PVR.  I was told XP Pro is better for PVR.  That is the reason for this installation.

Thnaks for your time.

Hi Rich,

PVR is Personal Video Record or DVR (Digital Video Record).

Thanks for your time.

There is no advantage to using Pro for that . . you can save some time and money by just using Home.
