Question

I purchased a used Dell GX520 to see if I wanted a new Dell since I have heard decent things about the pcs but I am having the darndest time getting information or help from Dell. I needed to order the reinstall disks for the os and received them. Installed the system but drivers are missing including the ethernet drivers so I cannot access the internet with the pc. I tried to download drivers with another pc but the dell web page will not allow me to download with that pc since (i guess) it is not the dell pc. I have called dell and they are of no help. I must purchase a service agreement to dl drivers for this pc that they acknowledge is their pc. This is incredibly stupid. If I cannot download the drivers how do I see if the pc works. How do I get the missing drivers?

As for system drivers you need the following, in the following order:

1. R121089 Dell Desktop Software

2. R132539 Chipset

3. R126542 Intel Express Chipset Family

4. R98241 Intel Video Graphics Cotroller

5. R73044 Conexant Modem Driver

6. R72270 Conexant Modem Application

7. R98291 Conexant Modem Diagnostics

8. R132254 Broadcom Ethernet Driver

9. R96978 Broadcom Ethernet Application

10. R138111 Broadcom Ethernet Utility

11. R96977 Broadcom Ethernet Diagnostics

12. R97809 Audio Analogue Devices

Download using another system and copy to a USB stick, put the Rxxxxxx.exe files in appropriately labelled folders (such as the names I have used above). Insert this stick into your system and install in order. You may use a non-Dell PC to download these.

This is not true.  You can download drivers from Dell FROM any computer FOR any computer.  Follow Nat's list ... if you run into problems, let us know which one(s).
