dual boot VISTA/XP ntldr error
new laptop specs in tag.
Issue 1, priority 1
+ Started with VISTA preinstalled.
+ Partitioned
+ Installed XP onto partition using the slipstreaming method, booted, working fine (but without sound, network drivers = found network ones at dell, sure to be able to find sound etc, hopefully).
+ Used recovery cd to "repair" vista, so as to boot into vista.
+ Used VISTA BOOTPRO & EASYBCD to setup OS entries (on separate times).
+ Boots into boot manager thing, shows recovery, vista and xp boots.
+ Chose XP
- NTLDR error
status: 0xc000000f
entry could not be loaded cos the application is missing or corrupt.
- tried numerous times.
= help
Issue 2 priority 2
- Vista NVIDEA driver keeps failing (done this as soon as it does something taxing out of the box).
Issue 3 priority 3
- when i had xp installed and working, that is as the primary boot (and no dual boot yet, but vista still on other partition) there was a display problem (my brother says video card), that is any program that scrolled down would fluttle and lag instead of a smooth dragdown. in vista this doesnt happen.
i need the xp boot to use programs that i dont have vista installs for, for uni.
please help, any help much appreciated.

I had what looks like same issue with ntldr error on a dual boot XP and Vista. XP would not boot after installing new HD cloned by Norton Ghost.
After some digging around the internet, I found the solution that worked for me:
1. Boot up Windows Vista, and navigate to Start (the Vista orb)-> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt, then right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Adminstrator. Either enter your password if needed or just press continue. The new window should be titled "Administrator: Command Prompt".
2. In the command prompt, type in bcdedit /enum active and press Enter.
3. Locate the sections titled "Windows Legacy OS Loader". Note the identifier (all of them if there is more than one matching section); my identifier was {ntldr}. If the problem is the same as mine, the device property should be currently set to unknown.
4. Use the command bcdedit /set (ID) device boot to change unknown to boot, that is, the partition that is active and is booting from. By default, Vista does not change which partition boots, so if your XP partition is set as active, it will add the new booting code to that. Therefore assuming your XP partition is set as the active (boot) partition, the above command will be correct. Apply the above command for each identifier, replacing (ID) with the identifier itself, including the curly braces, e.g. bcdedit /set {ntldr} device boot. Press Enter after each one - it should report that the operation was completed successfully.
5. Rerun the command in step 2 to check that the changes were applied correctly.
Make sure you read paragraph 1 and 4 very carefully.
Hope it works for you.

thankyou ratz.
i actually found this solution on the net before u posted and tried it, without success, and i realise now why it didnt work lol. i hadnt heard of bcd and just assumed the commands were generic to do with drivers or sumthing, and at the time i was using VISTA BOOTPRO. so obviously this soulution fixes it for bcd. benefit of hindsight. it shouldve clicked. but im so glad u replied and its all running dual-booted now (so anyone who has the ntldr error, use bcdedit and do what ratz has said) ......
now. on vista, i just installed an nvidea driver update, so im waiting to see if that fixes my driver failure problem. and then i just need to seek and tweak some drivers to get the xp up to scratch.
any advice on the frame refresh rate (im guessing might be the issue), with the scroll-lagging in xp?
