If you are using Windows Vista, why don't you get a gadget to monitor the dual cores???
The only one I know that place an Icon on the System Tray is the MemTurbo, wich shows the memory and CPU usage, I have not used on Vista nor with a dual core CPU

On task bar, click task manager and select view performance tab
If you have a duel core, you should be asble to change it from one graph to one graph per cpu, yet I cannot do this and yet I hav e a Intel D940 duel coure, Dimension 9150

If you use Everest they have a gadget for Intel for the sidebar.
