E-Mail connection

After years of no problems  today my e-mail acc has gone wrong. My incoming mail server has changed from what it should be to 127.0.0.1 and will not allow me to connect to my e-mail account. if i change it back via the properties box to the correct one yhen it all works again ok.However when i reboot it "defaults" back to 127.0.0.1 . i have run a full syware adaware and virus scans and all is ok also done a system restore BUT all it still defaults back to the wrong server address.Any one any ideas please as to what is causeing this and how to stop it happening  ???????

The next thing would be to contact your ISP, to see if they made any recent changes, and to confirm
your proper settings.

Hi:

127.0.0.1 is your localhost, and several Anti-virus and spam filtering programs make that change.
If you are using any email scanners  in your AV or firewall, or any anti-spam filtering programs,
try disabling them.

It is also possible some malware is involved here. I would go to TrendMicro's Housecall site and
get an online scan.

What email are you using?

If it is Outlook Express, there are some suggestions that might help here:

I'm no expert on OE, but if that were happening to me I would want to absolutely
rule out the presence of malware using a HijackThis log, and posting that log in the
HijackThis forum for the experts to analyze. The anti-spyware programs you are
using might be missing something.

Full instructions on how to obtain this freeware, and how to use it are pinned to the
top of that forum here:
http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=si_hijack&message.id=4987

Print out the instructions and be sure to follow them exactly. Do not attempt to 'fix' anything with that program
without an expert's advice.

Good luck.
