easy to install Ram?

I would like to upgrade my Inspiron 3800 to Windows XP and need to install more Ram. Right now I have 128mb.  How easy is it to do this for a non-techie?  Is there a website where I can get easy to follow instructions and I mean very easy to follow...  Any particular manufacturers I should buy from?

TIA for any assistance you can give.

vickitab,

See this for an illustration of installing RAM in your system and this for upgrading procedures.

Dells can be picky about memory. If you don't purchase RAM from Dell a reliable source is Crucial, who guarantee that their memory will operate properly in your laptop.

Thanks for the references.  It looks easy enough to do, but those may be famous last words.  Whenever I upgrade somthing on my computer I always seem to have hiccups.  I am just a little nervous about touching the inside of the computer.  I live in Europe so I don't know if Crucial is sold here.  I will just have to buy direct from Dell.

When you insert the ram, push somewhat hard from both ends, not the middle of the stick, until you hear it click.  Than lift up on the clips at each end.  You may think you are about to break the ram stick when inserting them, but don't worry about it.  I to had misgivings on my first venture into the ram upgrade.

Thanks for the advice.  I am going to give it a try.  Nothing ventured nothing gained!
