Edit Microsoft Photo Editor default settings

Question

OS - Windows 98   I would like to change the default setting that displays the STATUS bar when I open a photo in Photo Editor.  I would like the default to be no STATUS bar upon opening.  I am prepared to edit the registry.    Den.

You're right.  I checked on both my W/98 and XP machines and the default setting to show the Status Bar returns when the program is closed & re-opened.  There may be a registry edit to alter this behavior but if so sorry, I don't know what it is and as yet have been unable to identify it anywhere else.
