ejecting flash drives
I have been having this issue. I get the issue fixed and it comes back. I do not like to just pull a flash drive out. It will damage them and they cost too much.
It seems to be an issue in Windows 10 2004 but IDK for sure.
When I right click the icon down by the clock the USB flash drive icon.
I right click and select eject usually I get a message same to eject. Nothing shows no message. But if I click the message icon I see a message where it shows safe to eject. It just does not show me without looking.

@CTG_8273 I don't think this problem is new to Windows 10. If you Google search 'windows 10 not showing safe to remove hardware message missing' you will find lots of information about the problem and lots of proposed solutions. A quick look at the search results shows this problem going back 4 years or more. It appears that some of the solutions worked for some but not for others, perhaps one will work for you.

I think you mean "I right click and select eject usually I get a message safe to eject." It actually says "Safe to Remove Hardware". You stated, "Nothing shows no message". I always get the Safe to Remove Hardware" message. If I wait long enough the "Safe to Remove Hardware" message will disappear and will not be in the Notifications, but if I click on Notifications while the "Safe to Remove Message" is still being displayed it will go to Notifications.
I am running Windows 10 version 2004 (OS Build 19041.508). How did you try to fix your issue which keeps returning?

What I have been doing to fit it? Either system restore or running Acronis true Image restore. System Restore is not supposed to delete files. But true image restores the image exact like it was meaning you may loose any changes.
I have had issues with system restore before deleting things or just plain out failing. But that's not the issue right now. I would like to get the eject issue fixed.
And yes I meant I right click sorry about that. is this a bug version 2004? It keeps happening and is very very annoying.
Also when you insert a flash drive it does not show one was inserted. But it does show in notifications.
Now the weird thing when it was showing safe to remove it would never say safe to remove when I ejected my 1 TB external. It would always say that the drive was busy. Now when I eject my 1 TB it does just like the flash drive. Only shows if I click the message icon in notifications.

If you don't use Safely Remove isn't there a chance that data is still being written to the flash drive when you remove it. For example, if you are copying a large file to the flash drive it could take a while until the process is completed and you would not want to remove the flash drive until the copying is completed. I think ejecting the flash drive and the Safe Removal message is the only way to guarantee that all activity has been completed.

Plug in the USB device you want to eject. Open Explorer. Right-click that USB drive and create a desktop shortcut, if you want/need one for easy access to the device.
Then click Properties in upper left corner of the screen. On next screen, click Hardware tab. Highlight the USB drive in question and click Properties. On the new screen click Change Settings. On next screen click Policies and on that screen, set Removal Policy to Quick Removal and click OK. That way you shouldn't have to use the Safely Remove.
FWIW, for a while recently I suddenly started getting the "busy" notice when I tried to eject a USB using Win 10, v1909, via safely remove. And then that suddenly stopped happening, so I suspect some Win 10 update may have caused and another subsequently fixed the issue. But I have no solid proof...

Thanks for the replies. This seemed to fix itself I don't know I was gonna do a system restore. I got to advanced menu and found out system restore was turned off.
That keeps happening also system restore turns off. I think it's Windows Update disables System Restore.
It seems there are more and more bugs in Windows 10. But after I got back to the desktop I realized it was fixed.
And yes I rebooted when I had the problem. IDK what fixed it I never ran system restore. But anyway it's fixed but will more than likely come back.
And yes @Vic384 You are correct I want to use safe to remove I want it to tell me it is safe. I heard the damaged the drive was not true.
But having common knowledge you should know better than to just unplug the drive and not ejecting it.
@RoHe
I also think there are some bugs in 2004 with flash drives or even external hard drive. I have a 1 TB external it always gives the busy message when ejecting. If I pulg it in and eject it ejects. If I just open the drive not touch any data it always gives the busy message

By selecting Quick Removal, all you're doing is disabling the write cache, so the file is written to the USB device instantaneously. Theoretical top speed for USB2 devices and ports is 480 megabits per second so even big files should be written very fast. And notice that Quick Removal is the Windows default, and it says you don't have to use Safely Remove when its set to Quick. So you shouldn't have to use Safely Remove, unless the Removal Policy is set to Performance for a particular device, or are being cautious (and/or paranoid ).
I always check the policy when connecting a new USB device for the very first time to a PC to confirm it's set for Quick Removal, just to be safe, and don't worry afterwards.
