Enabling the startup menu

Hi:

After many years with W98SE I've finally purchased a new Dell with XP.

I would like to bypass all the bootup splash screens (Dell's, XP's, and the Welcome) and be presented
with a startup menu. 98SE had this option in msconfig under "advanced" to "enable
startup menu" (1.Normal, 2.Logged, 3. Safe Mode, etc.)

Is there a way to do something similar in XP?

This may help with the statrtup menu. It involves editing the boot.ini file:

Also, auto-logon options from MS (which I use, ie. it goes straight to the desktop after the welcome screen):

Thanks, chuket.

Your first link describes more or less what I want to do, but states:
"This tip will work for both versions of Windows XP, Home and Professional, and Windows 2000. It has not been tested with Windows XP Media Edition."

I guess I should have stated I have XP Media Center 2005, and perhaps I should have posted to that board. The advice in the link doesn't quite jibe with what I see when I try to follow its instructions.
