End program message

While shutting down my dimension 4550 I been getting a message, End Program HPCMPMGR.EXE. program not responding.  After this message it shuts down by itself. This happened after I hooked up a HP 7760 photo printer but still have my X75 lexmark all in one as the default printer for all other printing . What is going on and how do I get rid of this end program message.

HPCMPMGR.EXE is a part of HP install. From the abbreviation i can conclude that it's something like:
HP multifunction manager.

Since it starts with Windows, and constantly runs in background, you just need to remove the startup reference to prevent it from doing so…

Click Start, and then select Run.
Enter MSCONFIG in the Open field; Click OK.
Switch to Startup tab.
Find HPCMPMGR.EXE on the list of Startup Items, and clear the box on the left.
Click OK.
Restart Computer.
You will receive a warning message upon next startup informing you about the change you made.
Acknowledge the message and disable it.

Please post back with results.

I went there but it dosen't tell me if this is part of my hp 7760 printer program or if by getting rid of it in the start up program has any thing to do with it my problem is not on start up but when shutting down my computer. I'am a carpenter so you will have to explain it in plain english. If anyone has had this  HPCMPMGR.EXE  end program problem and knows what it is or where it came from please help. Thanks Dennis

This did it thanks for the help your instructions were great. I checked out the two printers and they still work, my problems all started when I hooked up the HP 7760 printer I hope this is the end of the changes. Thanks Dennis
