you can take it out of startup in msconfig, or delete the program in Add/Remove programs in the control panel, if you do not want to use it.

I need a bit more explicit directions if possible---how do I get to misconfig?

then what?

Any directions would be appreciated on how to delete it---it does appear to be redundant to me, and not necessary????

Go to Start  Run  a little window will open up, now type in   msconfig         and hit ok

Go to the startup tab, last one on the right, now look for an entry that is similar to eprompter, and untick the box by it, no green check mark now, hit OK.

Now the next time you reboot the PC this  eprompter program will not start, but you will get a nag window opening saying you made a change in msconfig, just tick the do not show again box and hit ok.

unfortunately when I went to the startup tab, there was no program titled 'eprompter'---

might it be embedded in something else?

I can't get it to uninstall---getting to the point where maybe I just have to re-install XP?

when you look in the startup tab in msconfig look in the command section, you can stretch this column by grabbing the vertical line to the right of the word command at the top, drag it to the right, then you can move the slider at the bottom to the right and go back up and drag it some more, until everything is exposed. here you may be able to see  eprompter.

"I can't get it to uninstall"

what is the error?  what happens when you try?

I used my 'restore' option and I'll see how it goes--I may have to re-install xp
