erasing and reinstalling windows xp

Question

I have a virus on my computer which uses windows xp. I have talked to some people and they suggest erasing everything and reinstalling. I did this a couple of days ago but when I connected to the internet at school I got more viruses which have made my computer not  work and even worse. I am not wasting another hour and a half on the phone with dell. Can anyone give me a websites with very clear and easy directions to do it myself???

After you install your operating system you should. 1. Install Drivers from Dells Drivers CD. 2. Install your antivirus software 3. Update your antivirus software 3. Go to Start-All Programs- Windows Update 4. If SP-2 is listed, download and install> If your on dialup you might want order the CD as it is a very long download (About 5 days to receive) 5. Same site- download and install all critical updates   You shouldn't have any problems after that

Or you could do it the easy way. System Restore to a point before you got the virus. It worked several times for me. Takes about 5 minutes.
