Erratic Inbox Internet Explorer

Hello everybody,      
After installing Windows Live Messenger 8.1 a few months ago, I noticed that some new messages were missing from the Inbox display in "MSN-Hotmail-Inbox-Microsoft Internet Explorer," the window obtained by clicking the "Mail" icon in IE.  Then, a few days ago, the display became quite erratic.  Now, the first entry is dated 10/06/05 (I bought the computer in 2003).  Then, there are sequences like: Jan 10, May 1, Feb 8 (all 2006).  That is, the entries are not listed sequentially by date as they should be.  Further, the display is unstable and changes from time to time.
I do not have this problem with "MSN Mail-Inbox-MSN Explorer" (obtained by clicking the "open your e-mail inbox"  icon in the Messenger window).  The display here is fine.
I changed back, with quite some difficulty, from Windows Live Messenger  to MSN Messenger 7.5.  I was disappointed to find that this did not solve the problem.
Thus, in my case, both versions of Messenger work fine with MSN  Explorer but not with Internet Explorer,
Any help or suggestion will be much appreciated.
