Deleting older version of iTunes thru control panel.. after windows installer tries to compile info I Get flag saying "internal failure" error number 0x80040707 with no descrption. Then additional flag says "iPod for windows" access denied. Nothing after this. Microsoft generously offered to tell me what is happening for 55 bucks....

arachangel..

The error message usually indicates, you need to have full administrator rights in order to uninstall it... hence the 'access denied'.

Hope this helps..

That error is generated by the Install Shield program, and indicates a problem with the registry. There are instructions to fix this problem on the Install Shield website: http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108167

Make sure you follow the instructions for your version of Windows, as they vary for different versions. You may have to do some registry editing, so make sure you back up (export) the entire registry to a file before you begin. It's a good idea to manually set a System Restore point before you do any registry editing too, just in case...

BTW: Please post a problem only once. It's bad Forum etiquette to post the same problem in more than one thread. And it may take a day or 3 for somebody to respond to your post, so be patience.
