Error after installing windows media player 11

I upgraded to WMP 11 and got BSOD 0x00000019, BAD_POOL_CALLER. Called tech support who ran a Repair Reinstall. Back on desktop, reinstalled SP2 and got a msg, "Windows Media Player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled. Do you want to install the Player from the Microsoft Web site." Clecked "Yes" and got WMP11. Attempted to run WMP11 but it crashed with the same BSOD. Called tech support who uninstalled WMP11. However, clicking on WMP 10 icon pulls up WMP11 and then crashes. Re-ran Repair Reinstall. Back on desktop, removed WMP from "Add/Remove Windows Components" and then installed SP2. Restored WMP in "Add/Remove Windows Components". But got the same error "Windows Media Player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled. Do you want to install the Player from the Microsoft Web site." Followed instructions from a website and uninstalled "WMP format 11 runtime" and "URGE" but error still persists.

If it was me I`d try downloading WMP11 from a different source

If that did not work I`d do a System Restore to before I tried to download it for the very first time.  You should still have WMP10 then
