Error explorer.exe encountered errors and must close
System:
Lattitude D600
Win 2000 Pro
Intel Pentium M 1400Mhz
AT/AT Compatible
523,496 KB RAM
Network Adapters:
Broadcom 570x Gigabit INtegated Controller
Dell Wireless WLAN 350 WLAN Mini-PCI Card
I was getting the above error message on startup and couldnt get into windows proper, so I reinstalled Windows 2000, however when I did this I received the following error
cusrvc.exe - ordinal not found
The ordinal 212 could not be located in the dynamic link library LOCWIN32.DLL
Could anyone please give me advice on what I can do?
I have installed a new version of windows also which let start up windows but it seems to have not installed all my network card drivers and other stuff, so would there be any way I could recover my previous windows installation?
Also would it be better for me to upgrade to windows XP or if my laptop can take it Windows VISTA?
Thanks very much for any help.

hi,
it depends and how you installed your new windows on your system. if you upgrade to windows xp or vista i thinks there is a way to go back to your original OS. For the drivers you can go to support.dell.com to check any updated drivers for your system
note:
for me your system is not suitable installing windows vista- ill go for xp pro

Well i installed it seperately without deleting my original OS. This allowed me to get a windows installation started to scan my drive for viruses and back up any files to my external HD. When I try to startup my original OS i get the above error and can't get any further.
Allegedly the problem wit the LOCWIN32.dll has to with NOVELL CLIENT which I don't need anymore.
What I want to know is
Thanks for any advice

Hi,
1. Repairing is not an option for me if you will ask. I only do repair if my OS is corrupted and i have some important files that i need to backup. I had a bad experience doing repair on my os previously it causes me a lot of problem that leads me in reinstalling my OS.
2. well you can try reinstalling the driver and see if that will work- but i think the error message you received has nothing to do with the driver thaty you are going to install. I think that the novell client is part of your OS?
3. Better to install windows xp...especially if you will use this for school
Peace!
