Error Message 1402
I have tried to install the Adboe Reader program for several months. Each time it downloads perfectly, but when I try to install it get the following message: HKey_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\classes\PDF.PdfCtrl\CLSID. I have talked to Adboe, they say its not their problem, its a registry problem. They suggested I contact Microsoft. I did. They responded saying that any software program with OEM in the product number it is the computer manufacturer's problem. All I want to do is to be able to download PDF files and it's such a hassle. I don't know where else to turn. I am hoping someone out there can help me. If it's a registry problem it should be a fairly simple fix. The Adobe company had me open up the regedit file, but I could not do anything in the file, like makre changes. Let me know if any of you can help. Thanks.

I know you were sent here form the Scratch Pad area, and you were certainly right to search before posting, but since this thread is several months old, I'm not sure the original poster will be able to answer your question.
However, see if this link helps. I think it should.

Let us know, so a future searcher will know if it works. Seems like a common problem.
And,as a last resort, you may want to consider an alternative PDF reader, such as Foxit Reader. It is free, and some people use it as a replacement even when the Adobe option is available. It is faster and smaller.... Read more about it here:

Good luck.
EDIT:
The Adobe link has many possible solutions. If one does not work, do not give up.
