error message when I start software

Question

I have software on my computer that always worked and I never had a problem. I tried to open it one day and I get an error message. I try to uninstall it, I get the same error message. I stick the CD in to Re-install and I get the same error message. I did a system restore to a date back when it worked and it is still the same thing. I have Windows XP. Here is the error message   C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Micorsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application.   I am not sure what else to do, I did a virus scan and scan disk, but nothing is working.   Anyideas Thanks Mike
