Error message Windows xp backup

Question

I have been trying to backup my hard-drive so I can install a new one.

But when I try to backup using Windows XP Home Edition, backup in xp I keep getting a access denied error message whether I'm trying to open an existing file or deleting an existing file or just opeing a new file. By the way the files are on a cd-rw.

I checked all my permissions and as the administrator I have all rights to the file and the cd drive. I can't even erase the cd-rw.

Please help.

Backup only works to Floppy or other HD file doesn't work to CD.
If you want to Backup to CD you must 1st Backup to HD file then burn file to CD.
Are you trying to erase CD from "My Computer" CD Drive. ?

Thanks for you help. The problem turned out to be a bad DVD-RW Drive.
