Error message

While using Ad-aware (free version),  I received a notice that

C:\$Mft   is corrupt and unreadable.  What does this mean and how do I fix this?  I tried Check disc without success to resolve this issue.

Thank you for any assistance.

DMori,

&Mft is the master file table used in Linux systems. I have no idea why such a file is on a Windows XP computer. Locate it, right-click on it, and select Properties. Perhaps that might give an indication of where it came from.

Copy it to removable media then delete it from your hard drive. See if its elimination changes anything in the operation of your computer. If not, don't bother to copy it back to C:\.

If the problem occurs only when using Adaware, then try the support pages on their website for a possible solution.  Kip

I believe C:\$Mft is the name of the NTFS master file table. I'd not delete it. It's very odd that Ad-aware's even seeing it!
