What programs and services are running in the background when this occurs? Have you scanned your system for viruses and spyware and removed all that are found?
Hi Steve, Norton systemworks is running in the background. The problem seems to have started about when I loaded systemworks 2005. I have scanned my system and norton says that all systems are ok up untill the computer freezes. Mike
Norton Systemworks is and always has been a huge resource hog, especially if you let all of its subprograms run in the background. Furthermore, with the exception of the antivirus component, Systemworks provides little usefull functionality over what Windows XP provides. I would suggest that you troubleshoot your problem by uninstalling Systemworks. If the problem goes away, you know for certain what is causing it and can then decide whether Systemworks has any value to you.
