Error: Object expected

Question

I am getting error messages in the bottom tray while using certain websites (specifically my multiple listing site that I use as a realtor). The error message looks something like this:   Line: 43 Char: 1 Error: Object Expected Code: 0 URL://cbrmls.columbusrealtors.com/search/scripts/paginghead.html   These errors are preventing pages from appearing or they are preventing certain buttons from working after I input data into certain boxes. Can anyone point me in the correct direction on how to fix this. Microsoft says that since my software was pre-loaded it is Dells problem and of course my warranty is expired with Dell.

Kevincoffey,   The 'Error: Object Expected' is usually caused when Javascript can't find a specified URL or object.  Since you're also having trouble with buttons and page displays on the site, I suspect something is blocking execution of the Javascript routine(s).  Open Internet Explorer.  Click on Tools|Internet Options.  Click on the Advanced tab.  Scroll down and check the Java (Sun) and Microsoft VM settings.  If it's a firewall setting that's causing the problem, this can sometimes be remedied by manually adding the site to the Trusted Sites section on the Security tab of Internet Options. Hey Tony, thank you for the reply. However first regarding the 'check my Java & microsoft VM settings', what do you mean exactly? I only see one box for Java which is checked. As for Microsoft VM, I don't know what you are referring too. Also while looking at this page however I see the 'reset all internet explorer advanced settings'. Would it hurt anything to just click on that to see if that resolves the issue?   Again I appreciate the help.   Kevin

Kevin,   Don't worry if the Microsoft VM (Virtual Machine) selection is missing.    It wouldn't hurt to 'reset all Internet Explorer advanced settings'.  Try it and see what happens.   Tony

Reseting all Internet Explorer settings seems to have improved it. However I still don't think it is completely fixed. I noticed an error down in the bottom tray again while a page was loading, but it went away by the time the page loaded completely. Then another page just isn't loading properly. It seems to be 'thinking' rather long like it is waiting or looking for something. Nothing appears. However this did seem to fix my main error I was getting. Hopefully permanently.   Thanks again. I'll be back once this new issue gets worse. Lol   Kevin
