Error restore to factory setting using Dell DataSafe backup DVDs

Hi Guys

I have an Inspiron One 2310 which failed to start, but it did pass all pre boot assessments so it looks like disk / memory is ok.

So got out the two DVDs which I made with Dell DataSafe when the pc was new.

The DVD loads and I go into factory restore - it starts with Formatting your partition and then stops either with error

Error 0x400110020000100A.

or

Error 0x4001100200001005.

I can't seem to get any further and now the PC wont even try and boot. Any suggestions - can I get media for Windows 7 from Dell or Windows as I obviously have the license?

Thanks

Simon

Follow the instructions in my A Clean Install of Windows. These guides will instruct you in downloading Windows aswell as going through how to securely wipe your system, the install of Windows, applying OEM SLP activation, updating Windows and the installation of drivers. It will also go through installation of Dell Backup and Recovery to make new factory settings.

Thank you Philip, I have started with the Digital River ISO file and am encountering issues formatting a partition so that may be the underlying issue. I will try with an alternative disk and see if that helps.

I will post back an update to assist others with the same issue - it may be a few days to sort out a disk ...

Thanks

As your system is quite a bit newer than SP1, you may need to load a SATA driver so Windows 7 can read the storage controller and hence format the drive, see here.

First thing to do is run the custom extended hard drive test in the diagnostics, not just the quick test in the Diagnostics already run. The regular diagnostics quick test can misdiagnose a failing hard.

Both Errors indicate that the recovery partition is toast.

Dell Backup and Recovery and Dell Data Safe software are BOTH END OF LIFE END OF SUPPORT and have been for several years now.

Error 0x400110020000100A

Error 0x4001100200001005

Dell recovery Tool and USB2 Sandisk FAT32 USB drive are recommended.

Larger than 8 gigs but no bigger than 32 max.
