Subedays,
Office XP (2002) Professional Edition contains Excel 2002.  A Nextag search finds these sources of Office XP Pro:

Recommend you buy one of these.  New in Box. No registration problems with Microsoft. Best deals look to be around $150 for the Office XP (2002) Pro Edition.  Cheaper than buying Excel 2003 retail package.

If you only need to view an Excel spreadsheet here is the free Microsoft viewer: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c8378bf4-996c-4569-b547-75edbd03aaf0&displaylang=EN
This won't help if you need to create or edit though.

Be aware that you will have problems when you install Office XP or just Excel. The Word that comes with Works is installed into the default folder "Microsoft Office" and will be overwritten and won't work right if you don't do a custom install of Excel into a diff folder--MS OfficeXP would work. Your best bet is to uninstall Word in Works and install the whole Office XP package. What you should have done is selected the Office Basic 2003 option when you ordered the computer. That had Excel and would have been cheaper and you'd have the latest edition.

Thanks for the warning.  I wanted Powerpoint too.  It may not be the most current, but it will work for me.
