Excel

Just discovered Excel not a part of XP Home Ed Service Pak 2. Called Dell & was told that for $99 they would tell me how to open an excel doc. Can anyone tell me how I can access excell doc's without paying a ransom

Microsft Excel as well as Microsoft Word are part of a Microsoft Office package (I think also Microsoft Works). This is not something that is inbedded within Windows. But most likely Dell would have given you some sort of spreedsheet/word processor application if it being Office/Works or Wordperfect. Either of these packages should allow you to view/edit excel documents.

What specific error message occurs when you try to open an excel document?

That's all my files have been "done" on excel

I have windows XP professional. I really wanted home office however...quattropro is "supposed" to be compatible with excel files. All the files I have had been gone on excel. I don't know how to use quattro pro, my files are not compatible AT ALL. Quattropro is in the word pefect menu. Do you have that? I have a non-profit I have to do a spreadsheet for and now I end up putting in on word. I lost the formula so I can't use it on someone elses computer who has excel. WHAT A PAIN. I believe we should be given an option.
