Explorer.ex Application Error.... ???

Question

Hello ^^

I really hope Im in the right section of the forum....[edit] now I know I am ^^

but anyway, I've been having problems. When I go to my documents and when I right click to see if I can access the properties or to open a file w/ a different program a popup box thing comes up and it says:

Explorer.ex Application Error

The instruction at "0x0150415b" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program

Click on Cancel to debug the program

and thats it..... the only way I can get the options when right clicking is if I open a video player and try to open a file and only then does it let me right click

so I hope this is all the info you all need, or do I need to give you the specifics on my computer?....

See possible solutions to this problem below. I have been having the same problem. I resisted the first solution below for a while because my problem was with Windows "Explorer", not Internet Explorer...however, the IE repair actually fixed the problem! You may need to have your Windows installation CD handy (I386 directory), and also if you have installed XP SP2 you will need to point the repair tool to the windows\servicepackfiles\I386 folder as well.

Start > Run rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g

or

Start > Run rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 C:\windows\inf\ie.inf

Reinstall IE
