Factory Image Restore - ERROR, BLANK SCREEN
Hi all
I'm in the process of selling my laptop and performed a "Dell Factory Image Restore".
The system ran for a while then came up with a error message with an "X" and an OK. I hit the OK and the computer asked if I wanted to restart. Now I have restarted the laptop but after the Dell symol shows on start up all I'm getting is a blank screen.
Can anyone assist in getting my laptop back to the original factory settings?
Thanks, Damsel in Distress.

Thanks for the response.
Yes - all peripherals were removed.
I cannot try again as when I turn the laptop on its just a black screen after the Dell Logo appears. Any suggestions?
The laptop was working perfectly up until the restore.

Did you disconnect all peripherals before you started the Restore?
Have you tried it a second time?
If none of that works, you'll have to reformat the drive and install Vista and hardware drivers from scratch...

Reboot and press F8 a couple of times while the Dell logo is on the screen. See if that gets you to the menu where you can select the Restore again.
If not, then I guess you will have to boot from the Vista CD and do a manual install of the OS.
