Factory Restore, Backup etc etc
I have a Dell XPS 13 (2015) and while I like the computer there are some major gripes with the Dell Software.
1. Why can you not have an option to buy a USB stick with recovery media on it when I bought the laptop.
2. The factory restore USB Key creation is a farce. How about being explicit about the type of device needed, (maybe makes and models of stick that are supported), the size of stick I need to buy, and maybe how about getting your agents to actually tell you that you need to buy one when buying the laptop?
3. If I create the restore media now, what is the position when Windows 10 comes out in a few months and replaces Win8.1? Will I need to create a new factory backup? Does that mean another USB stick needed (as overwriting the restore media for 8.1 would be silly in case the upgrade borks). Any ideas of make, model and size of USB stick needed?
As someone who builds computers, servers on multiple OS and hardware scale I find the fact that Dell is making things harder for those who know what they are doing by obfuscating information (because it makes it more user friendly) is something I hate. How hard is it to provide the technical specifications needed to do something simple as creating installation media.
I just want clarity and documentation (not the short articles on the website which are laughable) as they do not align to the specific laptops and are to generalised.
I have used Dell laptops (mainly business ones such as Precisions and Latitudes) but the consumer grade stuff leaves a lot to be desired in terms of support.
What I want answers for:
1. Make and model of supported USB media for creation of factory restore.
2. Documentation for my specific laptop and OS version in a single HTML or PDF file. None of this layered website which does not answer questions because you use overlapping terminology for differing use cases (factory restore, backup, etc etc)

Microsoft has set the rules for the operating system, not Dell. Every manufacturer has to comply.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media
That has details. Any created media should be tested to make sure it is bootable and works. User can bail out before actually doing a restore.
