failed system restore

I am trying to do a system restore but everytime I try to, it fails.  I have done the system restore in the past and it has worked perfectly, so I don't think I'm doing it wrong.  I've also tried it using several different restore dates.  I'm trying to do this for my mom who downloaded the new version of Internet Explorer and hates it!  Now she wants it back the way it was, and the only idea I had was to do a system restore.  If anyone has an idea how to fix the system restore or a way to go back to the older version of explorer, I'd be very greatfull!

Hi

To go back to IE6 just go to add/remove programs and uninstall IE7 and
it will revert back. System restore problem- It sounds like all your restore points are corrupt.
turn off system restore,Restart your computer and turn on system restore

System Restore is no better than a 50/50 chance of working, when you need it to work.  I do hope the Vista version is more reliable.

Once your System Restore is corrupt, and you can't use it, you might as well turn it off and then back on because your restore points are inaccessible anyway.  The file framedyn.dll is located in my c:\windows\system32\wbem folder.  You might check to see if you have this file there.

I am having problems with system restore - I tried the solution suggested by guy on here and was warned that if I turned SR off the all previously saved data would be lost so I chickened out - my systemrestore will not run either to restore or create coss "framedyn.dll was not found"

Yes try stopping then restarting System Restore and see how it goes.  Also, here is Microsoft's take on this file:

The PC will not let me stop System Restore it insists that there is an error with one or more drives and I should restart - I have done this several times with no success. trying to start system restore is tiresome too taking a number of attempts at OKing the error message that the file is not there
