Fatal Execution Error (0x7927baca) ?

What does Fatal Execution Error (0x7927baca) mean and what should I do about it. This message pops up when I try to open some applications.

It means that an errant program attempted to either execute an invalid instrucion or attempted to access a part of memory that didn't belong to it. If the offending program is something you installed, uninstalling it will fix it. If it's from a core windows component, then only reinstalling the OS will fix it. The tricky part is figuring out what program caused the error.

Debrasue,

Does is provide you with the PID (process id) in the error message?

Debrasue,

If it does, run "Windows Task Manager", click "View | Select Columns...", then check(tick) PID (Process Identifier), then click Ok.

Now, just scroll down the list and locate the PID that failed. You can click once/twice on the PID header to sort the list in ascending/descending order.

Also try looking in the "Event Viewer" under the "System" and "Application" section for any errors or warnings for that particular process. If there are any, right-click on them, then select "Properties" and see if that will shed more light on the problem.

Debrasue,

Dell support is what you'd want to un-install.

Thanks Mike, That clears up alot that I was confused about. Denny had the same response to a similar question  posed by a previous forum-mate. You have been very helpful--Debrasue
