Faulting application explorer.exe and netapi32.dll

Question

I have a user that has a new Dell Gx620 with Windows XP Professional SP2 and they keeping getting the error Windows has encountered a problem and will close. The user has Windows Explorer open when this happens. The Event Viewer has the following information: Event Type: Error Event Source: Application Error Event Category: None Event ID: 1000 Description: Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module netapi32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x000390dc. I have searched Microsoft and the web and have only found one other posting on this and the other posting did not get any responses (on another website). We had other users that got this same model and they have not been getting this error. Would this be hardware related? I have reimaged the pc and that did not help. I have the same problem with a Latitude D510 that I support.  It is running Windows XP SP2 and the error occurs when files are accessed over our network.  I have been unable to find a solution to this problem anywhere.

I finally figured out what was causing the errors on our systems.   In Windows Explorer under Tools | Folder Options, they had Show Common Tasks in Folders checked so I changed it to Use Windows classic folders.  Once I made this change the user no longer got the error.   We had some other users that had errors that were similar and I made this change in their windows explorer and it also fixed their problem.    What we found was they had Windows Explorer open while using MS Word and for some reason that view was causing problems...Very strange...
