I have a 1501 and have had only very minor problems but they were all solved by browsing this forum for answers :) I'm happy with my purchase.

I have a 1501 I purchased in November, it has TL-50, 2 gigs of ram. I it's working fine, had some minor problems, ok now. I received my Vista Home Premium upgrade a month ago, installed Vista on a dual boot. Vista worked slow at first, but speeded up after about 4 or 5 days. Go figure?

I didn't know that, but did discover that my restore does not work. I thought that maybe I did something to damage it. This is what I did. Using Partition Magic, made a new partition from Windows XP partition, made it 45 gb smaller. With that new Partition I installed Vista. Vista, XP, and the Dell Diagnostics works fine. The restore does not work it just boots into Windows when I press Ctrl F11. The restore partition is still there, it just does not work. I read possible ways to repair, but it's too complicated. I don't think I could ever do fix it even if it's possible.

I just bought this one with Vista preinstalled. I also have an e1505 that came with XP Media Center in February and I recieved the upgrade disk kit about a month later. The upgrade was great but it did disable the Dell Symantic Quick Restore on my hard drive. I had to run the Goodell Quick Restore ISO image file to re enable the program.

Dell features the quick restore function with computers with Vista preinstalled but not on computers with the upgrade program. All we have is the Dell Symantic Quick Restore that came with xp. Vista disables the quick restore.

Its not complicated. You just go to the goodell site and scroll down to the ISO part and skip the rest. Download the Iso file and burn it to cd.

Boot the computer to cd and do 2 or 3 comands and its fixed. I have the comands and they are typed in at the prompt...

Type CD\MD2   click enter
Type  repair       click enter
Click OK

Done.... restart the computer and press ctrl + F11 key...in ten minutes your computer is restored to factory specs...heres the link...go download the iso file...

I bought a 1501 (with TL-52 and 1GB) in Nov06, very happy with it now. On first booting I wiped the entire drive and reinstalled MCE, runs sweet now. No issues found at all. Well, ok, only issue is waiting for dell to ship my Vista Upgrade! Its a !£$£" that they've upped the HDD to 120, mine came with 80 standard.

Your still waiting for your Vista Upgrade Kit? I got mine in a month. The 1501 I just bought for a friend has Vista installed but I have e1505. I am going to be able to tweek the difference between customers that bought the upgrade program and customers that got Vista preinstalled. Lucky me! I actually think the upgrade customers got the better deal. They get both systems..XP and Vista.

I bought my 1501 December first, was finally able to order the upgrade at the end of January, and I am still waiting for my upgrade. So much for Dell's first in first out rhetoric on the upgrades.

I have an 1501 running Vista Home Premium with 1gb ram and it runs nice. Used the so called "Express" upgrade did a clean install around 3 weeks ago after the long wait but finally got it installed now. Overall its good, but could be better with 2gb
