finding backup utility
I have oem Windows XP Home Edition system , which doesn"t load a system backup utility. I'm supposed to load NTbackup from XP disc - All I have is Dell's reinstall disk. Where do I find this backup utility?

The backup will be on the Windows XP CD. However, the Windows XP backup utility will only backup to diskettes. It won't backup to a CD. If you want to backup to CD(s) you will need to buy a 3rd party program that will do what you want.
Another thing to consider. You have the restore CD's that Dell provided. It has all the pre-loaded software, drivers, etc. All you really need to backup is your user data (e.g. WordProcessor files, e-mail Account, address book, etc). You don't need any backup software for that. Just use the CD burning software that comes with your PC and create a "data" CD-R with the user data on it.

In XP Home the ASR Floppy Disk does not work . It will NOT backup to a CD. You can back up to a folder on your hard drive then burn it to a CD. The native program in XP will not span CD's though.
Here is how to use it;
