finding files

I like Vista for searching for files if I know the file name.

 

But I'm having trouble finding files if I don't know how they are named.

 

Specifically, I want to import television shows that I've recorded in Windows Media into Windows Movie Maker and can't find the files.

You could try searching for the file extension for the video files. I don't use Media Centre (I assume that is what you mean when you say 'windows media') and am therefore not familiar with the default file format for TV recorded through it, but it is probably 'wmv' or 'dvr-ms' or 'avi'- no doubt someone will correct me if that is wrong. If you use Vista Search to look for each of those file extensions (seperately) it should bring up all relevant files.
