Folder Opening Problems

This could be due to a problem with the latest Windows critical update.   See the following:

If the discussion in that article applies to your system, you can either edit the registry as described in the article, perform a system restore to get back to where you were before the update, or wait until tomorrow when Microsoft is supposed to release a new version of the update to fix the problem.

Thanks.  I'll look for the Microsoft update tomorrow.

start > run > "chkdsk c: /f"

start > control panel > add / remove programs, then on microsoft office select "change" then choose repair.

you can also try

start > run > "sfc /scannow" (this will require a windows xp cd)
