Hi Chasbox. Thank you for that information. I did just that and will let you know if that solves the problem. So far so good. Can I ask you another question? I've had my computer for a while now and have updated the memory and hard drives but how do I upgrade the drivers on my computer? I have a Dimension 8200 with Windows XP. Would the drivers be okay for as long as I own this computer or should I be updating them or other things and how do I go about doing that? Thank you again for your help.
Hi again. No everything seems to be working fine so I will leave it at that. Like you said if it isn't broken, leave it alone. I did go into the site to look though and noticed that there is nothing newer then 2001 and 2002 so they don't really have any kinds of upgrades yet for the Dimension 8200 since I bought my computer back in 2000. I would have thought there would be something by now but I guess not. Thank you for your time you were very helpful.
Hi Chasbox. My computer is starting to do the same thing as before as far as freezing up when I turn it on, then I have to keep shutting it off by the tower until it doesn't freeze. Any other ideas on why it is doing this? I have Norton GoBack installed also, do you think the McAfee could be conflicting with that at startup? Any ideas would be very helpful. It doesn't seem to freeze up after I have it running only when I start it up so I'm thinking it's conflicting with something and maybe the Norton GoBack might be it, very powerful program I think.
Try this Click Start , Run typ
e msconfig Click Startup tab Click Disable All Apply +Ok Reboot
See it it still freezes, If not Go back to the Startup Tab And click Enable All. You will have to start unchecking all the checked boxes one at a time to you find out which one it is, Stay off the net while
Hi, me again. I had a really hard time getting my computer to come on this morning, took me like 6-7 tries before it finally came on without freezing up. I took the biggest program I have on my computer which is called Norton GoBack which I think might be conflicting with the new McAfee Security. It didn't bother the old one but maybe it is with the new because this has only been happening since I installed the new McAfee Security. We have a system restore with Windows XP so I can always use that if I have to but so far so good. It started right up for me. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that did the trick. Thank you for everything and have a nice holiday and be safe.
Hi Chasbox. I think I got it. By taking that powerful program called Norton GoBack it has froze at all. I started it last night and again this morning and no freezing at all. I think the new McAfee was conflicting with the Norton program so I'm glad I took it out and everything is fine. I want to thank you for all your help and time and again, wishing you the very best holiday season. Thanks again.
