Vpoc,

Are you running the latest NVidia driver for your graphics card (version 5.2.1.6)? If not, download it from here.

I just dled the latest driver, but I still have the same problem. I've already eliminated all the necessary programs from my start menu. Things are looking very bad. The problem is, when I play the game it runs fine for like about 4min, and then my computer either freezes or shuts down. I believe that wld be a lack of ram problem, but shldn't 256 be plenty for just one game to run on? I don't know what to do, or how to solve this problem. Thanks for your quick response, and yes I'm new to these dell forums. However, I've owned a dell since 97', and I just bought this lap top in August.

Sounds like to me not enough ram, 256 is pretty low when you're trying to play the latest games.. If you can add another 256 memory stick it, then do it.  Or just swap the 256 stick for a 512 stick.  Also have you done any scan disk or defrag lately, I'd do that too.

I just finished defragmenting my hard drive, but to no avail. My computer still freezes, and even shuts down at times. I'm strongly sweying with the lack of RAM posibility. However, War Craft 3 TFT runs fine on my desktop, and my lap top is suppose to be able to out perform it significantly. Feel open for suggestions, and I thank you all for your advice.

BTW:

Desktop:
Windows 98(Suite)
PIII 866 MHz
128MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce2 32mb

Lap Top:
Windows XP(Home Edition) 2002
PIV 3.06GHz
256MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 64MB

looks like slow processor speed and ram on the desktop, and not enough ram on the laptop.. Go over to the gaming message board and ask if anyone is playing those games, and ask for there specs. I just bet you your stats are not enough.

Ouch, those specs will be difficult to game with.  Not impossible, but difficult.  If I would recommend one thing, it's to get more RAM.  XP really likes to have 512 MB RAM to run efficiently.  Many gamers report that 1024 is just that much better as well.  Go get some memory...

Next, there are a lot of performance tuning tips that you can use for Win XP here on the board.  I've posted several times with info on defragging, driver updates, page file tuning, start-up, spyware, and excess programs running.  I may finally get around to compiling a FAQ for how to improve the performance of your XP PC.

BTW - Moderator - it would be really helpful to post a FAQ on performance tuning as a locked message at the top of this board...

Hells yeh!! I fixed the problem. I believe it was a program conflict, thus I deleted Jedi Knight =(. It's ok, I can live with out it. But thanks a lot for all of your input and support. Message me anytime if you guys ever need help.

Thanks Again.

Yeah, I was about to say I am running TFT perfectly even on 4v4 games and full settings.  I am only running an Ati9000 32MB also.
