..er..
well I have installed that patch and I still have the same error message. In fact, two minutes after connecting to the internet I get this message after which I can't open any website although I'm still connected to the internet.

any solutions?

i'm running windows xp sp1, cleaned the spyware, scan for viruses, nothing. just this annoying bug i can't find a way to work around it.

thanks a bunch!

Try to click start > run: svchost.exe , it worked for me. :smileyhappy:I think if you hibernate when you shut your machine down, it will probably work until microsoft release a new service pack.
Let me know if this also works for you.

I'm seeing the same error happening. I keep sending it in to be looked at by MS.

Apparently that svchost.exe restarts itself soon afterward (within minutes) and the only sign of things returning to normal (maybe) is that windows change from Classic to XP theme again. I don't understand why the Classic theme gets thrown in when the error occurs but at least it seems to fix itself.

Not sure when this began, exactly. I have Windows Update set to download and install automatically.

I'm also having trouble with the wireless router or internal card (TM 1184 / 1180) now.

I use Hibernate all the time, instead of Shutdown, and this hasn't been a problem until recently. Cold boots seem to help the wireless but still get those wretched svchost errors after startup.

I've done a System Restore back to last month but it didn't help any.

Whenever you get the message next time, just click on the report button, and this will transfer u to a microsoft web page with the solution. Obviously, after so many reports, they created an update that fixes the error
