Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem

Question

Hi about 2 months ago i bought a Dell Inspiron 6400 and has been great till now. i have started hving problems like not being able to get onto the internet, and the 'start' bar going from the normal XP blue to the old school win98 style, also i keep getting the error report box coming up when i start saying ' Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem'   I guess what im trying to ask is what have i done wrong?? also does anyone have any ideas how i can fix it? thanks in advance sorry if ive described anything wrong not really sure how to describe it. Thanks again

i don't know if this applies in your case, but i have had problems with 'generic host process' before, in the past, and i had to install this patch to fix the problem..   http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=A87B44B9-7A6A-49B6-BD89-AFAD4E049C48&displaylang=en   like i said, this was something that i used to experience in the past, but i haven't had a problem with 'generic host process' lately.. it was a pretty common problem at the time when i was experiencing it..
